Tired of drinking water? EAT IT!

The reason that I wanted to do this blog is because hydration is step 1 to maintaining health, no matter what the climate is or what you are doing. I think that most people think you need to drink more water during the summer time and drink less during the winter but that's not true.

You do need to up your intake in the summer, especially if you are doing outside activity or just live in a very hot climate to make sure you replace the fluid that you lose during sweating.

You can not however slack on drinking during the winter time. Winter is when a lot of people struggle with colds, illness, and of course there's flu season. All of those illnesses can wreak havoc on your immune system if it has not been previously taken care of with proper hydration and nutrition. We still need to make sure that we follow the recommended fluid intake no matter the season.

There's 3 categories of people:

  1. Those that love water and drink it as their main beverage each day, whether it be room temperature or ice cold.

  2. Those that get bored with drinking plain old water but force themselves to drink it because they know they need to.

  3. And those that are repulsed at the thought of drinking water and would prefer almost any other drink over water.

Some people may even be a combination of two categories. As for me, I am definitely #1. I drink water everyday and will not be myself if I don't drink any. I use to be a #2 when I was younger, like around middle school to early high school but thankfully I have grown from that.

No matter the case I think that everyone can enjoy getting more water and fluids through eating delicious foods!

Here are examples of foods that are great for hydration that you can add to almost every meal!:

Watermelon

Tomatoes

Cucumbers

Carrots

Zucchini

Lettuce

Celery

Cauliflower

Strawberries

Grapefruit

These are only a few examples of foods that are full of water and will help with your fluid intake. If you make a salad for lunch with lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes you've already included 3 foods packed with water and nutrition. You could even add in bell peppers for an added crunch along with a protein and a vinaigrette to it and you'll have a complete meal!

The majority of fruits and vegetables are great for adding to your meals for added nutrition and hydration. I love to snack on cold watermelon and strawberries to keep me cool during the summer time.

Smoothies are great as well! A smoothie made with strawberries, oranges, and pineapple would not only taste amazing but it would be great for hydration no matter the season.

What kind of fruits and veggies do you like to eat to keep you hydrated?

Which category do you fit in when it comes to drinking water? Or do you fit into a different one that I didn't talk about?
